Start the way you mean to finish..

Adelaide today: 18°c/65°f

Welcome to my inaugural post. I am nervous and excited at the same time. I will be posting as often as my work and lifestyle permits. I have decided to note the temperature at the time of my post for comparison of how a fragrance behaves in variations of temperature. The temperature variables here in Adelaide are:

winter (daily maximum) 15.9°c/60.62°f
summer 28.3°c/82.96°f

However, we can experience heat waves of 40°/104°+ for 7 days or more, ours is a very dry heat unless we have a milder/wetter summer, then it can be slightly humid.

I am eager to try L’air du desert marocain and Ambre Sultan in a heatwave that should be an interesting experience. If anyone has any perfume suggestions for the hot weather I’d love you to share them with me.

Thanks for reading - Sharryn

  1. Congratulations on your inaugural post! Looking forward to your future ones as well.

I really adore rich Orientals in the heat, and it doesn't get much better than Ambre Sultan because of that incredible honeyed herbaceous facet. Also amazing in hot weather are Tauer's Orange Star, Barbara Bui, Atelier Cologne Vanille Incensee, Le Labo Patchouli 24, Oscar de la Renta Esprit d'Oscar, Liz Zorn Violets and Rainwater, Aftelier Perfumes Tango and Cacao, Guerlain L'Heure Bleue, and any number of Ormonde Jayne perfumes. I could go on and on, but I won't bore you. :)

  2. Hello Sharryn! Great start to a great blog! Love the name :)

I lived in Adelaide for about 3 and half years and the heat waves were terrible. Nothing lasted on my skin in 44º dry heat! Summer is a long way to go. I'm loving the winter in Sydney and I don't want it to end! x

Thanks Su, nice to meet you. Do you buy niche anywhere in Sydney?

  5. Congratulations on your first post! With those extreme temps, I would imagine you have to be very mindful of how perfumes perform in heat. I'm excited to see future posts.

  7. Looking forward to reading more about perfumes in different temperature conditions.
And I am jealous you have a nice, dry climate.
It's summere here and it's very humid and very hard to tolerate.
